Autonomous robot chases wild boars raiding Polish neighborhood out of the city goes viral, users react: 'This isn't what I expected from the future'

"Autonomous robot" and "chasing wild boars" were two phrases we never thought we would put together in our lifetime, and yet, here we are.

The technology of today's world is pretty incredible. Almost every person on the planet has access to generative AI, we are developing the ability to alter people's genetics to avoid genetic disorders before birth, we now have reusable rockets that are dramatically reducing waste and energy in our space travel, and 3D printers are now a commonplace item in homes of tech nerds. We are curing incurable diseases left and right, and soon enough, we'll all have personal robot assistants to help us with daily tasks, like chasing wild boars out of our neighborhoods.

Yes, you did read that correctly. In Poland, an autonomous robot was caught on camera chasing a pack of wild boars out of a Polish neighborhood. It sounds too crazy to be real, and yet, it is. The video starts with the boars (very large ones, at that) running away, followed soon after by a robot chasing after them. After the boars escape out of view, the robot seems to wave its arm, as if saying, "And don't come back!"

From the boars' perspective, this must look like a scene out of The Terminator. Even to us, it looks like a scene out of The Terminator. As cool as it would be to have a robot that folds our laundry, cleans our dishes, and vacuums our house for us, it's not worth it if we end up in the boars' place instead.

Humans, cars, trucks, and heavy machinery must be scary enough to these wild animals, but a machine that looks like a human and doesn't move exactly like one? It must be like what we felt when we watched The Exorcist the first time. Those near-human movements make everything infinitely more creepy, so we think it's safe to say that these boars won't go anywhere near this neighborhood for the rest of their lives.

The most likely answer is that it was programmed to do something with traffic, which would explain why it chased them if they disrupted the flow of cars in the area. Or, maybe it was just programmed to chase after boars. Who thinks to code for a potential boar chase when programming a robot?
